Not quite ninja-less entry

I was going to say that our Saturday was pretty much ninja-less, but I'd be lying.

We spent the morning doing fabric shopping for, well, two ninja costumes. In case you haven't been following my Flickr stream and are interested in my hobbies, I'm using sets for my costuming projects - two so far, Tsunade and Jiraiya.

And the evening we spent watching, well, a ninja movie - it was 2005 live-action movie Shinobi: Heart Under Blade, a Romeo and Juliet ninja story. The movie was pretty cool, and I think it would work even if you don't like ninjas - costumes, colours and action scenes were just superb. Story is an old legend about two warring ninja clans and youngsters from those clans that tragically fall in love... not exactly rocket science but there's a reason why this story keeps cropping up through the ages. I especially loved Yukie Nakama as Oboro, she was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but she played those subtle and difficult emotions that a killer who needs to choose between her clan and her lover beautifully.

Maybe tomorrow I won't write about ninjas. Maybe.

Darlingest Kolibri! Thanks for informing on the new Naruto... and it IS fabulous. And your costume project would easily win competitions in Japan (when was it that you were coming over?)

Btw. I think it should be Tsunade-hime, Konohagakure no Godaime Hokage.

Sasuke, eh? Simply gorgeous... That scene where he unsheaths his sword almost makes me pee in my pants. It was so worth the wait.

And thank you, thank you for your kind comments about my costumes, it made my morning to read them ^_^ - I'd forgotten how much I love making costumes and I've been thoroughly enjoying my little projects. I'm such a perfectionist so I spend a lot of time tinkering with something... but I'm pretty happy so far. And I fixed that wording, I knew I shouldn't have been trying to be too smart with it ;)

Don't tempt me with Japan... otherwise one morning you'll find us under your window at Ikebukuro 3-33-2 demanding bed and breakfast ;) Although we could work out a trade, you'll come here first - then we'd have to return the favour, hm... Any conferences coming up on the West Coast?

About tempting - it's just so that only time when it's reasonable to visit Japan is when you have the option of staying at somebody's place. Target some Tokyo Game Shows or other and get (partly) refunded the flights? ;)

And don't worry, I've heard enough praise for Vancouver to visit it :)
