It's like a drug
Taika brought us some rye bread.
There were three bags so I took one bag to Timo at work. It's literally like a drug, I didn't even notice I had done the same until I saw Timo do it - first thing you do is you take the plastic bag the bread is in and you press it against your face, smelling it. Smelling it! The intoxicating smell of fresh rye bread is so irresistible! We had a discussion about how to eat it - I eat it with some German or Hungarian style salami (closest I ca get to proper Finnish metwurst), Timo prefers it with butter and cheese. Any way you look at it, it's like no other bread.

When I got home last night I realized I had run out. I tried to think of something else that I could eat as a night snack (or as breakfast). I couldn't come up with anything. The only thought running through my head was: "There is no rye bread!"

So true! Ruispalat is my favourite brand and there are no words for how much I love Finnish rye bread. Last summer, while back home, I ate Ruispalat every day several times a day. People were smiling a bit but I assured them I enjoyed every moment of it. I have seriously considered packing an entire suitcase full of only Ruispalat, but that would be a bit crazy. But then again maybe not...
